ECO-CENT – Innovation Ecosystems for Circular Economy Entrepreneurs

The principles of circular economy are the foundation of the ECO-CENT project (Innovation Ecosystems for Circular Economy Entrepreneurs), in the implementation of which the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber is a partner. Its overarching goal is the promotion among companies of different models of production and consumption that limit waste to a minimum. As a result, enterprises will use the accumulated knowledge to start applying these models in practice. In addition, the project will also focus on VET providers that companies use to improve their employees’ skills and competences. Professional training centers will take part in the development of training resources for the application of circular practices in enterprises.

A series of stakeholder meetings, discussions, and experience exchange activities will be held with the aim of elaborating training materials on the topic of circular economy. A massive open online course platform will also be developed. It will provide access to all materials and resources and will also give companies and VET providers the opportunity to communicate online.

The international consortium working on the ECO-CENT project includes organisations from seven countries – Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Cyprus, Portugal, and Slovenia.

Circular economy is a model of production and consumption that minimises waste by extending the life cycle of products. In practice, this means sharing, borrowing, reusing, repairing, and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible.
