Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo highway with an approved EIA and approved route

The Supreme Expert Environmental Council of the Ministry of Environment and Water proposed to issue a decision, based on the conducted Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), for the approval of the investment proposal for the Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo highway. Together with the EIA decision, measures are also proposed to prevent or minimize the damage that the construction of the highway would have on the environment. For this purpose, a number of discussions were held in Ruse, Ivanovo, Dve Mogili, Borovo, Tsenovo, Byala, Polski Trambesh, Pavlikeni, Veliko Tarnovo and Gorna Oryahovitsa.

There is still no funding for the project, as it is estimated that it will cost around 600 million euros. It is considered that the necessary funding will be obtained either through the Transport and Transport Infrastructure Operational Program or through the toll-system fees collected in the future.

The highway route is already approved. It is divided into three subdivisions: Ruse-Byala (40 km), bypass of Byala (36 km) and Byala-Veliko Tarnovo (58 km). The road gauge will be 27 meters and the road itself will begin 3 kilometers east of the Danube Bridge.
