According to data from the Romanian General Inspectorate for Immigration, approximately 20,000 EU citizens worked in Romania in 2017. The largest number of foreign workers were from Italy (about 4700 people). Bulgaria ranks second with just over 1900 workers and third is France with just under 1900 people who earned their livelihood in Romania last year. The Top Five list is rounded up by Germans (1700 employees) and Hungarians (1500 workers).
