We organize this event as a follow-up to the workshop-discussion meeting held in May of last year in the city of Ruse, where over 30 Bulgarian producers of foods and drinks shared their experience (successful or unsuccessful) in dealing with the retail chains in our northern neighbour.

The Romanian market offers many opportunities for Bulgarian foods, beverages, cosmetics, etc. At the same time, that market remains hard to access for Bulgarian goods, despite its geographical proximity. During the upcoming discussion the participants will have the opportunity to ask concrete questions about questions, related to successful sales:

   • What are the reasons for many Bulgarian companies to make successful sales in Germany, Austria, UK, but fail in Romania?
   • What are the most common mistakes? Why, despite serious investments, many companies fail?
   • Modern trade or traditional trade? What is the potential of the market for different groups of goods?
   • How to make successful business in Romania? What are the practical steps? How have other Bulgarian companies succeeded?
   • How to get to the retail chains, how to find a good distributor, what are the expectations for the Bulgarian goods?

Successful steps for working with the retail chains and finding suitable distributors will be shared.

Special guests at the forum, which will present the situation in the Romanian market and answer concrete questions, are two Romanian partners of BRCCI:

Mr. Marius Caluian General Manager of Vektor Marktforschung SRL – one of the most dynamic participants in the monitoring of the retail sector, which is actively working in the Romanian and Moldovan markets and managed to enter the Bulgarian market this year.

Marius has a 20-year experience in companies-leaders in the retail sector, like MEMRB Retail Tracking Services Romania and Nielsen, he is familiar with the client behavior and the expectations of the FMCG market in the region. He is a marketing expert with a master’s diploma for management from the Kennesaw State University, Atlanta, Georgia, (USA).

Mr. Dan Robu – Former commercial director in two leading Bulgarian companies, who have successfully managed to penetrate on the Romanian market in the last few years. At present, he is a partner in a Bulgarian-Romanian food trade company, whose sales through the Romanian retail chains tripled for only one year and reached 58% market share in Romania.

As an expert with extensive experience in the FMCG sector, Dan has been helping the businesses in Romania and Bulgaria for over 20 years. His greatest strength is knowledge in the field of sales, negotiation, marketing and the creation of a strong partnership with the distributors and retail chains in our northern neighbor.

The discussion will also include representatives of successful Bulgarian companies in the Romanian market who will help with advice and guidance and will share their experience.
