The GDP of Bulgaria has grown by 3,5% for the first quarter of 2017 compared to the same period of 2016. The growth, compared to the last quarter of 2016, is 0,9%. The agricultural sector decreases its contribution to the added value of the economy with 0,1% compared to the first quarter of the previous year and is at 2,5%. The manufacturing sector has also decreased its contribution with 0,7% and is at 29,3%. Services however have increased their contribution with 0,8% and are currently at 68,2% of the added value of the economy.
At the same time, Romania has strengthened its position as a leader in the EU in terms of GDP growth – 5,6% increase for the first quarter of 2017 compared to the first quarter of 2016, according to Eurostat. The second place goes to Slovenia with a 5% growth and the third – to Lithuania with a 4,1% growth. After that come Estonia and Latvia with 4%, Poland and Hungary with 3,8% and after that – Bulgaria. Romania also is in the lead in terms of growth compared to the last quarter of 2016 – 1,7%.
