Funding programme: Program for transnational cooperation “Danube” 2014-2020
Project title: DANTE – improving the administrative procedures and processes related to the Danube waterway transport
DANTE aims at identifying and eliminating the administrative barriers for inland waterway transport (IWT) on the Danube & its navigable tributaries as a joint initiative of the private sector and the national public authorities responsible for these barriers.
DANTE shall function as a smart network supported by the EUSDR/PA1A and important relevant national stakeholders in providing better framework conditions for inland waterway transport. An active cooperation platform of at least 20 key actors in the programme area will be initiated and sustained in order to strengthen environmentally-friendly, safe and balanced transport systems. This platform will involve EC Services (DG MOVE, DG Regio), governmental and private sector stakeholders to overcome the administrative and related financial barriers in 5 thematic areas:
1.Border Police, Tax & Customs
2.Navigation/traffic control authorities
4.Waterway and Canal administrations
The project partners will collect and analyse inputs from stakeholders on national level via the transnational IWT barrier and good practise reporting tool to be created within DANTE. This innovative, multi-language tool will enable the state-of-the-art way of mapping the every-day barriers of the actors in IWT and result in a database that will work as basis for further analysis and recommendations.
DANTE will systematically introduce stakeholder consultation procedures in legal and regulatory acts of public administration relevant for IWT. All information gathered will be structured into consolidated reports and widely discussed with competent authorities and key stakeholders at meetings and working tables on a national and transnational level.
Project partners are over 20 organizations and companies from 10 Danube countries. BRCCI as a project partner is leading the PR and Communication work package on behalf of the whole project consortium.
It is expected that the implementation of the project will lead to better management of this eco-friendly, European, central transport infrastructure and to the decrease of logistic costs for all economic branches, which depend on water transport for their competitiveness on a global scale.
Period of implementation: January 2017 – June 2019
