A CONFERENCE ON DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM AND SECURITY IN THE DANUBE REGION was held on June 17, 2016 in Ruse, which was attended by the European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Crețu, Deputy Prime Minister of Romania and Minister of Regional Development and Public Administration Vasile Dîncu , The Bulgarian Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova, Denitsa Nikolova – Deputy Minister of regional development and Public Works and National coordinator for the Danube strategy, Plamen Stoilov – Mayor of Ruse, Nicolae Barbu, Mayor of Giurgiu, Christopher Imbsen – Deputy Director of the World Tourism Organization, the Ruse Governor Stefko Burdzhiev, the President of the Municipal Council Art. cor. prof. Hristo Beloev and over 100 representatives of almost all countries in the Danube region, ambassadors, regional and local leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, NGOs and others.
During the conference, Mr. Plamen Bobokov – Chairman of Prista Oil Holding and founder of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce handed Ms. Kretsu a letter of intent to active work and cooperation with the European Commission and the national governments of Bulgaria and Romania for the implementation of key projects that would lead to convergence of Ruse, Giurgiu and Bucharest and to promote them as attractive and safe tourist destinations. One of the priority projects, included in the statement of undeniable strategic importance for both parties, is the idea of building a fast transport connection between Ruse, Giurgiu and Bucharest by commissioning modern speed railcar. A similar project will provide quick access to infrastructure, business and culture of Bucharest for more than half a million citizens living in the region.
The declaration was signed also by Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce.
