On April 23rd and 24th, 2018, the city of Karlsruhe, Germany, hosted the third partnership consortium meeting under project “DANTE – improving the administrative procedures and processes related to the Danube waterway transport”. During the meeting, the activities that have been launched or have already concluded within the individual work packages were discussed and the results of the national roundtables in eight of the Danube countries were taken into account. The information from Bulgaria, related to specific problems and issues concerning the river navigation – border procedures, the introduced electronic document processing system, measures to be coordinated by the respective state institutions – were collected, discussed and presented by the two participants from the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
As a mediator on the Bulgarian side, the Chamber received gratitude from the partners, and in particular from the representatives of the working groups under Priority Areas PA1a and PA11 (inland waterway transport and security) to the Danube Strategy for the successful co-ordination of all institutions, port authorities and local business representatives, in relation to the introduction of the unified forms for control of vessels on the Danube.
The Chamber was cited as an example of good practice, which was also recommended to other countries.
