An increase in vehicle tax is expected in Romania

According to a draft law published by the Romanian Ministry of Transport, the charges for using the Romanian road network of heavy goods vehicles will increase by at least 85%. The only vehicles, for which the change will not be applied, are passenger cars (category A) and freight vehicles with a total permissible mass of 0 to 3.5 tonnes (category B).

For example, the fee (paid in the form of an electronic vignette) for heavy goods vehicles with a total permissible mass between 3.5 and 7 tonnes (category C) will increase from 4 to 12 euro (for one day), from 16 to 30 euro (for 7 days), from 32 to 60 euro (for 30 days), from 92 to 171 euro (for 90 days) and from 320 to 600 euro (for 12 months).

The changed prices will apply to everyone who buys an electronic vignette after the draft law comes into force – a draft law, which is still being discussed. With a vignette already purchased, there will be no obligation to get a new one, but you will be able to use the old one until it expires.

The current prices of electronic vignettes in Romania are published at https://www.roviniete.ro/bu where you can also buy a vignette.
